The special Ludhiana police cell is expected to accommodate players and to this end a special campaign has been launched by the cell.

The reason for the launch of the campaign is the increase in gaming activity during the lockdown period.

Beant Juneja, head of the special cell, said on the instructions of Police Commissioner Ludhiana that a major campaign had been launched against illegal gambling and under the supervision of ADCP Rupinder Kaur Sran, the city police strongly criticized the players. and broke snowshoes in a week.

Four caught in city hall raid

Police Division 3 raided the City Home hotel near Sangla Wala Shivala and broke a game racket on Saturday night. Four people arrested on the spot were identified as Jagdish Singh from Khud Mohalla, Rakesh Kumar from Kidwai Nagar, Ashu Kaneja from Kirpal Nagar and Sunil from Ikbalganj. The raid was led by SHO Madhu Bala.

“During the lockdown, gambling increased a lot in the city and we launched a special campaign against such activity. In one week, four cases of gambling were recorded. In some cases, players have been caught playing in a park and in an open area during the lockdown. They weren’t even following Covid standards, ”Juneja said.

In the first case, two defendants from the Tibba region were detained in the act of gambling and Rs 10,700 were recovered. In two other cases, two defendants each were arrested and Rs 1,790 and Rs 13,960, respectively, were recovered. In the fourth incident, two defendants were arrested with Rs 4,420.

ADCP Rupinder Sean said such illegal activities would not be allowed and strict measures would be taken.
