BetMGM is set to launch sports betting in South Dakota in partnership with Thin Lizzie Gaming Resort of Liv Hospitality and Cadillac Jack’s Gaming Resort. Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, said, “Liv Hospitality’s prime locations in Deadwood make it an ideal partner for us. Together, we look forward to bringing the BetMGM sports betting experience to sports fans in South Dakota. “

South Dakota betting history

In 1989, South Dakota first legalized gambling in Deadwood to make it a major tourist spot. It has launched 25 casinos offering roulette, keno, craps, limited card games and slot machines. On November 3, 2020, Deadwood’s Sports Betting Legalization Amendment added sports betting to this list and the South Dakota Gaming Commission approved a set of regulations on July 14. Deadwood currently has ten full casinos within the city limits.

A legislative committee approved the rules for sports betting on August 2. South Dakota will launch sports betting with a 9% tax rate. Suppliers will be required to pay an application fee of $ 5.00, a license fee of $ 2000 for a full fiscal year, and a renewal fee of $ 2000. BetMGM is one of many providers who should be interested in launching sports betting offers in the state.
