Here’s when mobile sports betting is expected to start in New York

New York State regulators have given operators the green light to launch mobile betting on sports venues for Empire State players.

The state gaming commission approved betting sites on Monday, November 8, including gaming giants DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook, and mobile betting is expected to be ready by the Super Bowl.

At the earliest, mobile sports betting could be available from Wednesday, November 24, although the process is expected to extend into December or perhaps January.

Other authorized operators include BallyBet, BetMGM, Rush Street Interactive, Caesars Sportsbook, Wynn Interactive, Resorts World and PointsBet.

“This license advances our global footprint in the market and marks the final step on our journey to become the leading omnichannel gaming provider in the United States,” said Bally President Son Kim.

“Above all, we look forward to providing New York’s dedicated fan base with engaging and top-notch sports betting experiences. “

Officials said that online betting could potentially bring the state more than $ 500 million in tax revenue per year.

Mobile betting operators will be required to donate 51% of their revenue to the state, though it should still be lucrative for them in New York’s massive and rabid sports market.

“I am convinced that with the credible winning offers announced, we have the potential to eclipse other states in the field of mobile sports betting, to generate significant income and funding for education and sports for young people.” said State Senator Joseph Addabbo, Jr., who has been an advocate for the measure, said in a statement.

Going forward, operators will have to set up their servers for mobile betting at one of the state’s four licensed casinos, which, until this decision was made, was the only place players could go for. bet on sports.

“We have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bring mobile sports betting to New York. With more than 19 million inhabitants, New York will be the largest mobile sports betting market in the country, ”said Tom Reeg, CEO of Caesars Entertainment, in a statement.

Once the servers are in place, mobile betting can begin.

PointBets USA CEO Johnny Aitken added: “Have the potential to secure market access to New York State – which is expected to be one of the largest and most important markets in the United States. – represents another important milestone for our company, our brand and our technology. . ”
