TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan Sport Industry Expo 2020 opened at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei on Friday, July 17, and will run through August 9, showcasing Taiwan’s top athletes and their match-day accessories. , including kits from Major League Baseball (MLB) star Wang Chien-ming (王建民) and badminton world champion Tai Tzu-ying (戴 資 穎).
According to UDN, the exhibition will feature Taiwan’s four Olympic gold medals as well as sports equipment worn by the national champions before and during their competitions. Over 120 companies and interaction sessions with the country’s top athletes will also take place.
The athletes in attendance are: Former World Tennis Doubles Specialist Latisha Chan (詹 詠 然) and her sister Chan Hao-ching (詹 皓 晴), National Basketball Team Members Douglas Creighton (簡 浩) and Lu Cheng -Ju (呂 政 儒), volleyball twin brothers Liu Hung-Min (劉鴻敏) and Liu Hong-jie (劉鴻杰), as well as national soccer champions Michelle Pao (包 欣 玄), Wang Hsiang-huei (王湘惠) and Lin Ya-han (林雅涵).
Education Minister Pan Wen-chung (潘文忠), who attended the event’s opening on Friday, said he was grateful for Taiwan’s effective preventive measures against the coronavirus. He said Taiwan was the first country in the world to host professional baseball games with a live audience and the first to open a sports industry convention.
Pan pointed out that the Taiwanese athletes have improved the country’s global visibility through their outstanding performances and have contributed immensely to its sporting history. He also expressed hope that attendees at the event would appreciate all of the hard work and sacrifice the athletes put in over the years, which is documented at the exhibit, CNA reported.
