While there may not be much separating Tottenham and Chelsea in the Premier League rankings, recent results have reminded us of the rift between two of London’s footballing powers. As Spurs worked hard to defeat Crystal Palace and a grueling Conference League draw, the Blues were claiming victories without reaching their peak of form against Aston Villa and Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Tottenham: Nuno Espirito Santo will have an exhausted front line for Chelsea’s visit with Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura injuring themselves in the 2-2 draw with Rennes that started Tottenham’s Europa Conference League campaign, making them doubt the game Sunday. Add to that Son Heung-min’s continued absence due to a calf issue and Spurs’ options to play alongside Harry Kane and Bryan Gil on the front row are indeed limited with Emerson Royal pushed from behind. or Dele Alli asked to come out wide.
It is not just in attack that there are selection problems. The suspension of Japhet Tanganga and the dead leg suffered by Eric Dier which kept him away from the trip to France means that Nuno could be forced to concoct a defense of Davison Sanchez and Joe Rodon, not ideal for the visit of the champions from Europe.

Chelsea: Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel could bring N’Golo Kante back to the squad if he deems it necessary for Sunday’s game, although pair Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho have done well in his absence. Indeed, it seems likely that Christian Pulisic will be the only one absent from the Blues during their trip to Tottenham.
Antonio Rudiger is set to start against the side he could have joined last season after being sent off by Frank Lampard. Now regular under new management, the central defender is out of contract next summer but Tuchel hopes an agreement will be reached. “‘I hope we find the solution, but it’s not just about coaches and players and what we want,” he said. “Right now it’s between the club, the player and the agent. We hope we can find a solution, because he plays great football for us.”
Against weakened Spurs, Chelsea should have the quality to win. TO TAKE: Tottenham 0 Chelsea 2
